B.E.S. JONES
has always been a
story-teller. As far
back as he can
remember he’s been
one to tell stories,
whether it was a
poem or lyrics to a
song he wrote.
Poetry was his first
love but then film
and the world of
moving pictures took
over during his
freshman year of
college at the
University of
Pittsburgh. Brennen
attended Pitt on
scholarships and
grants and had plans
of going into the
field of sports
medicine but like a
movie with a good
twist, his plans
changed and so did
his major from
Pre-med to Film
Studies.
While he attended
the University of
Pittsburgh, B.E.S.
Jones started out
experimenting with
various filmmaking
techniques using
Super 8mm and was
selected to showcase
one of his films:
The Poet, during
Pitt’s Multicultural
Arts Festival.
Brennen then
transferred to
Towson University to
be closer to his
mother who was
becoming ill and was
undergoing a liver
and kidney
transplant. And as a
result of this, he
took a brief hiatus
from school and
filmmaking, and then
picked back up,
completing his
degree in Film
Studies at Towson
and along the way
writing, directing,
and producing the
short film An
Assassin’s Heart,
which gained a
cult-like following
on Myspace. With him
starting to gain
recognition around
the Baltimore area,
he directed and
produced another
film, A Midnight
Run, which is now
beginning to make
its rounds on the
film festivals
circuit.
Brennen was also
hired to perform as
Director of
Photography on an
independently funded
project by Precious
Stone Productions in
Across the Atlantic,
which was shot on
location in Paris,
France. |
